In2MedSchool Work Experience Series 2022 - Life of an ITU Doctor
Since COVID occurred, many students are struggling to find medical work experience in preparation for their medical school application hence In2MedSchool has decided to start a Work Experience series to give our mentees an insight into some healthcare professions, imitating an actual work experience placement in the hospital. First off, Dr Anthony Ng, a Honorary Specialty Registrar in Intensive Care and Respiratory Medicine at Addenbrooke’s hospital in Cambridge joined us to about the principles of intensive care unit (ICU), common presentations and duties of a doctor in ICU. Many students enjoyed this talk as we hope students are able to reflect on the topics discussed in this webinar and feel like they shadowed an ICU doctor for a short time.

I2MS x Medic Mind Mock MMI Circuit
In collaboration with Medic Mind, an award-winning company of doctors and students who help with university applications, we ran a full mock MMI circuit for a limited space of 20 students, using Medic Mind’s MMI interview resources and a total of 10 interview stations via Zoom breakout rooms. All students were also given detailed feedback for each station after the event. Thank you very much to all of our volunteers who helped in this event and hope the students learned a lot from the experience!

MOCK interviews 2021
With 19 volunteers, ranging from medical students to working doctors helping to run mock interviews for our students, we were able to provide mock interviews for over 70 widening participation students with 82.4% of them never having a 1-to-1 mock interview before and many relying on free online resources to help prep them for their medical school interviews. A massive thank you to all of our volunteers and hoped our mock interview workshop was helpful towards your medical school interview preparation!

Panel Interview - The Good, Bad, Average
Just like the various style of MMI interviews in a previous webinar, we decided to cover it for Panel Interviews too! A quick overview of the Panel interview was presented by our own I2MS Academia Director, Dr Adrienn Gyori. We then had current medical students who acted out the different types of panel interviews in action, allowing the audience to see how a Panel interview would run if it was bad, good or average. All of the interviews were then reflected at the end, giving the audience top tips and tricks in scoring well in their panel interview!

Ever felt stressed during the medical school application process?
Our guest speaker, Dr Virad Kisan, a Foundation Year 2 Junior Doctor covered issues that many applicants have struggled with during the admission process, including finding a balance between work, applications and extracurriculars, as well as managing expectations in such a competitive season. There was an intensive Q&A discussion at the end with a panel of medical students to answer any concerns from the audience.
Thank you to everyone who attended - we hope you found the session useful and reassuring.

MMI Interviews - The good, The bad, The average
We have organised this event for students to see the different styles of MMI interviews, pulling out the tips and tricks and analysing various interview scenarios along the way.
There was also a Q&A session at the end of the webinar for any pressing questions - thank you to everyone who attended. With over 100 live attendees, the session was really interactive and it was great to see that it had made a difference to your approach to interview preparation.

In2MedSchool Work Experience Series 2022 - Meet the Surgeon

In our 2nd Work Experience series, we invited Dr Emma Watts, a ST4 ENT surgical trainee at Walsall Manor Hospital to share her knowledge about surgery and the training pathway with our students. It was an inspiring and insightful talk as she mentioned her weekly routine, a brief timetable of her days, various images from clinical scenarios seen in ENT surgery. Dr Watts even took the extra mile to film a short film of different healthcare professionals such as nurses and other trainees that she works with to ask them about their careers, what they enjoy about their careers, what an advanced nurse practitioner does along with other various questions, in which our audience really valued learning a lot from it. This was a very special webinar where we were able to introduce so many different healthcare workers and to hear more about their thoughts and experience so would definitely recommend watching our Youtube recording ( @in2medschool ) if you haven’t done so!
